ACHD Commuteride’s May in Motion is an annual event encouraging and celebrating efforts by local organizations to help make smart commuting a priority for their employees. Commuteride educates employees on healthy and affordable smart commute options while supporting employers in establishing transportation benefit programs.
We welcome the amazing organizations below to this year’s friendly competition.
Employees at these organizations are finding and logging their smart commute choices on Share the Ride Idaho platform for a chance to win prizes for themselves and their organizations. Commuteride has also developed weekly webinars, games and a downtown Boise scavenger hunt for commuters to learn about area commute options.
The program is a great way for the public to come together and share in bettering the environment and public health. In 2019, 1,661 people actively participated in May in Motion. This participation decreased driving miles by 70,425 in Treasure Valley, an amount equal to approximately 889 tons of CO2 emissions.
With new additions this year, we expect even more success in the program. Commuteride teamed up with Valley Regional Transit this year to offer free rides for the month of May on the 18 fixed routes in Boise, the VRT OnDemand service in Nampa/Caldwell, and four inter-county bus routes between Ada County and Canyon County.
May in Motion is a great example of the community working together for a common goal that benefits our health, safety, and environment.
